Recording an unrealized loss
We have invested in a mutual fund that has taken a hit this year and I'm not sure how to show the unrealized loss on the balance sheet. Does anyone know how to do this?

Here's how we show unrealized gains or losses:
01-1310-000 Investment fund
Create these accounts:
01-1315-000 Adjust to Market
01-3115-000 Unrealized Gain (loss)
If you have a gain, DB 1315 and CR 3115
If you have a loss, CR 1315 and DB 3115
01-1310-000 Investment fund
Create these accounts:
01-1315-000 Adjust to Market
01-3115-000 Unrealized Gain (loss)
If you have a gain, DB 1315 and CR 3115
If you have a loss, CR 1315 and DB 3115
