Checking Accounts - sub accounts

Post by jalabuda »

We like to track funds directed to various operating expenses:

1. Alter guild
2. Flowers
3. Music
etc.

Can we set up our Checking account with Sub Accounts?

01-1100-001 - General Funds
01-1100-002 - Alter Guild
01-1110-003 - Flower
01-1100-004 - Music

Is there a better approach to tracking "directed funds" without setting up a new fund?

This will work just fine, as long as the middle four digits of the account numbers are the same. In your example above, you used both 1100 and 1110. Probably just a typo.

By setting up Sub accounts on the checking account, would bank account reconciliation be more difficult? or Can one print out all transcations in the Main 4 digit account to see all the disbursements and deposits?

PowerChurch will consolidate the Check Register and Bank Reconciliation based on the four digit "Major Account Number", so all of the transactions and balances will show up together.
