handling finances of groups within the church

Post by koofah »

How do i handle the finances of groups within our church that give thier moneys to us for safekeeping? eg. is the women's ministry group.
Besdies writing checks for thier own moneys, the church also supplements thier general expenditure from the church's own fund.
Thx.

Our church has set up funds for each ministry, with its own income and expense accounts. All the monies go into the church's checking account. We simply do their bookkeeping (pay their expenses, input their budget, etc.) and print reports for them. They are aware that any money left in December needs to be spent, or it gets applied to the general fund of the church; no monies (contributions) are carried over to the next budget year. Usually a ministry, like a specific sunday school class, will donate their collections (contributions) to a charity at year-end to clear out their income balance to zero in December. Hope this helps!
