Detail/Group Accounts
Can you change a Detail Account to a Group Account? As I begin the new year, I see ways to improve my chart of accounts. One would involve changing a previous account that was Level 4 Detail to Level 4 Group with Level 5 Detail Accounts under it. Can this be done since the Account had activity last year?

You can not change one to the other.
Instead, you would need to delete the existing account and add a new one in its place. If you can't delete the detail account, that means it most likely has posted transaction history, which would never work for a group account. In this case, just renumber the detail account and add a new group account in the old number.
