V9 posting transactions at year end

Post by compresby486 »

Hi everyone!

I'm using V9 with Windows XP. I've read through the topics pertaining to this, but I'm still not sure what to do. I have contributions from yesterday that I am posting to Jan 2010, that the program let me select in the contribution module. However, I wasn't able to change my working month to Jan 2010.

Now, when I go in to post the transactions in the accounting module, it shows I can post transactions from July 2009-Dec 2009 (our open months). Yet if I look up the contributions from yesterday, they show posting month of Jan 2010. If I post all of these at the same time, will they show in the correct year?

Our prior financial sec just did not post them until she closed out December. That works, but I'm afraid I'll forget to post them.

Thanks for any help you can offer. What usually happens with this program is I think too hard! The software people made it easy and I'm making it hard!

If you only have July-December 2009 open, it sounds like you can benefit by going to:

File > Preferences > Accounting Setup > Fund Accounting tab. The "Number of months that can be open at one time" field allows you to go up to 18 months in versions 10/11.

If you prefer to leave only 6 months open, you will need to close July 2009 to be able to post into January 2010.
