Manual Tax Withholding

Post by Jeanie »

Here I go again. First of all thank you to everyone that has helped me get this going. Now my next question is - How do you put the tax deductions in manually. I do not want to use the tax table as some hold out more than it says. The first go around, I was able to do it but when I started everything over, I got ready to do the payroll setup and I can't find it anywhere to do this. The book says there is a button to select for it but sure haven't found it. I am in ver.11. I have looked and looked. Please help.

Jeanie,

first off, exactly what do you mean when you say "some hold out more than it says", do you mean that your employees elect to have additional amounts taken out ??

You can do both, without much of a fuss. If you setup the tax tables for Federal, once that is done, you then add payroll items to the employees. For the federal tax you will see this screen:

As you see, you have a place to add any additional withholding.

However, if you really want to spend your time figuring the tax manually, or just take out a fixed amount all the time, you can select the Manual Amount from the pulldown as shown.

Hope this helps. You can find out more about this in the V11 manual, or by pressing the F1 key in the Maintain Employees area of payroll.

Thank you. I had found the last one you showed and started doing it. Yes, they choose to hold out more but it is a fixed amount so the second screen you showed is what I need. I had looked in manual and used the help but it wasn't showing up or maybe I was just too tired from working on it so much. Thank you so much for your help I really appreciate it.
