Power Church (ver 11.1) will only print 1099's on preprinted forms? Not on blank paper?

... and not on the 1099s provided - FOR FREE - by IRS? only on PURCHASED forms?

I don't believe that this is a change from previous versions.

From the Powerchurch Software Newsletter - Year End 2010:
Print W2s & 1099-MISC forms. PowerChurch Plus allows you to print off the W2 and W3 forms from Payroll and 1099-MISC forms from Accounts Payable. Both of these features require pre-printed forms. PowerChurch Plus will fill in the amounts in each box on the forms, according to the transactions that you have recorded in the software. Each generates a screen preview that allows you to look at the amounts and other information before printing. If you need to make any changes, do so directly on the screen preview prior to printing.
I also verified that v10 also required that pre-printed 1099-MISC forms be used. However, according to the help in Powerchurch 11, you CAN use the IRS forms designed for laser printers. I'm not sure if the downloaded 1099-MISC forms in PDF format can be printed off, then used. However, Powerchurch does allow you to adjust the printing so that the boxes should line up.

Copy A that is filed with the IRS needs to be pre-printed with special red ink. My understanding is you can print 1099s directly on regular paper to be given to your vendors, if you are e-filing your 1099s with the IRS.

I have looked into ways to file 1099s and W2s electronically, but have not found an affordable at this time.

The IRS site says:
"Do not file copy A downloaded from this website. The official
printed version of this IRS form is scannable, but the online version of it, printed from
this website, is not."

So I don't think any special ink is required. And apparently you can make copies if you get the right form.

Copy A has to be the preprinted form with the special red ink. That quote is saying don't use the electronic form from the IRS, because the red form need to be printed in special ink.

I use TurboTax for Home and Business and enter all the data from PC+ into it manually then print all my forms from there. Both the 1099's and W2's are approved by the IRS to be printed directly from that software with no preprinted forms. I use it at home because of a small business that we are running here. So it is available for me to use at no cost to the church.

Does TurboTax file the forms electronically for you, or do you put forms into an envelope and mail them to the Social Security Administration and your state revenue agency? From their website it looks like they are e-filing the W2s and 1099s and you are printing the vendor 1099s and employee w2s.

I mail everything. I believe you can e-file with TurboTax but there may be a fee. I have not loaded this years copy yet so I am not sure what is available for e-file. I can post it once I load it if you would like.

I use TurboTax at home, and e-filing is free. I could print a 1099, but I e-file w-2 and tax forms.
