Giving users access to certain accounts
Is there a way to give users access to certain accounts in Fund Acctg. and not other accounts?
Re: Giving users access to certain accounts
Unfortunately, no. AFAIK, the accounting module was always intended to be used by the church treasurer or bookkeeper. That is, a person who needs to have access to all the accounts in order to keep them updated.Heidilr1 wrote:Is there a way to give users access to certain accounts in Fund Acctg. and not other accounts?
Is there a reason you want to restrict accounts ??

We just thought it would be easier/cleaner to have the children's ministry person see their accounts, worship ministry see theirs, etc. Thoughts?

Its a good idea, but having them access them is actually more than they need, and getting to the actual data is really not for the casual user.Heidilr1 wrote:We just thought it would be easier/cleaner to have the children's ministry person see their accounts, worship ministry see theirs, etc. Thoughts?
I'd just give them a copy of the Income and Expense report. If you want to break the report down by ministries, you can add a page break after the last account in the previous ministry's list of accounts.
For example:
Worship has a range of 5200 thru 5299 - I'd put a break on 5199 and 5299 using the Maintain Chart of Accounts function. This would put the Worship accounts on a single page, and you can then issue them only that part of the Income and Expense report. If you need to print off only a portion for just one ministry, you can then look at the report, page through it to get to the ministry you need, then print only that page from the printer dialog.
The other alternative is just to give everyone a copy of the entire report so they all can see the financial status of the church.
