The default Chart of Accounts that installs with PowerChurch should meet your basic needs.
You can also copy this default Chart of Accounts to other Funds that you create. That may be an easier task than trying to construct your own Chart of Accounts, at least until you are comfortable with using PowerChurch.

Re: hidden fund expenses & chart of acounts
When you setup each new fund, you can copy the chart of accounts from a previous fund.
Chances are, you will need some unique accounts in each fund. Try to keep similar things in the same area on the chart of accounts. (If you have electric bill in the 5800s in one fund, put trash in the 5800s in the other funds, etc. It will help you find things).
If you are not using sub-accounts. (If you number your accounts 01-1110-000 and don't care to use the -000 for anything else), I suggest skipping a number when you create the initial CoA. Use 01-5810-000, 01-5812-000, 01-5814-000, etc. or even skip 5 each time, just to leave room for future accounts in logical places.
