Win7 PCPlus v. 11.
Greenhorn here. I'm in the process of setting the program up with a start date of 1Jan. In doing so, I established accumulated depreciations that appear on our Balance Sheet and have progressed to the point of budgeting for annual depreciations (bldg and equip). Now, however, the powers that be have decided that said depreciations are not warranted because of their significant impact. (We are a small church.) I've eliminated the budget part, but there remains the Balance Sheet.
Question: What would be the best process for ridding myself of this headache. Other than inputting contributions(unposted), I have refrained from any transactions, at least that I am aware of. Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thank you. ---Ron

Re: Remove Acc Depreciation fm Balance Sheet
I have version 9, hopefully to upgrade soon to version 11. My guess would be to reverse the entries in Fund Accounting module, or record a manual reversing entry to make the account to zero balance. Then it won't appear on the balance sheet, but you will still have the entries in the account activity history. not sure how this advice would work in version 11, or what stage of the setup process you are in...

Sheila's advice should work the same in V11.

Re: Remove Acc Depreciation fm Balance Sheet
Thanks Sheila for responding. I believe what you suggest only applies to posted transactions. I don't have any posted transactions. In fact, I believe I haven't any transactions.??????? The figures (accumulated depreciation) were introduced when I was going through the initial Accounting Setup. I have tailored the CoA extensively to meet our needs and am hesitant to start over again. So you see, I still have a quandary
Thanks again.---Ron

Re: Remove Acc Depreciation fm Balance Sheet
There actually is a beginning balance transaction that is put in place by the Accounting Setup Assistant. It is posted to December 2010. On the View Posted Transactions screen, you can see it by clicking the Filter button and opening up the range of months to view to include 2010.
Anyway, to just remove the balance from the balance sheet, you can enter a transaction that removes the balance of the accumulated depreciation account and offsets it against unrestricted equity. This will simply remove the account and balance from the balance sheet without incurring income or expense.
