Releasing Restricted Funds

Post by LDS19 »

We have the PowerChurch Software V. 11 installed on a windows 7 computer. The problem we are having is releasing restricted funds for 2011 from a restricted account to which the money was contributed in 2010. We write a check in the program and click the release restricted fund ( the bank account is Credited $X, SP Housing is Debited $X, then the program puts in the release account information which is exactly like the manual shows). The problem shows up on the income and expense statement. The money is removed from the restricted fund, yet at the same time our 2011 contributions are decreased by the same amount. So it appears as if the SP housing is being paid from both the restricted fund and and our contributions. How can we released the restricted money without having the money deducted from the contributions for 2011?

Your contributions income should not be affected by the release. Your initial restricted contribution income should be a 4200 number, the release should be a 4800 number in a completely different group of accounts. The overall "released from restriction" account, by default, is 4999, outside of the rest of the income accounts.

These account numbers or ranges of accounts are the defaults. You can customize the account numbers to your liking, but it is possible to customize them in a way that makes your reports look wrong!
