Newbie with Question about Budgeting/Acct. Setup

Post by machavez »

New PC+ user as of Feb 15. Entering back-data for start date of 1/1/11. I now want to add our Preschool operation, and it will be Fund 04. Preschool has a separate checking account. It operates on an Aug-July budget calendar.
My Question:
1. Is there a procedure that will allow me to establish the Preschool with a non-calendar budget year when the 3 other Accounting Funds are set up as calendar year in the accounting set-up?
Trying to decide the lesser of two evils...determining how to make this change or asking the Preschool to reconfigure its budget. Woo-hoo!

Frankly, I don't believe so.

That said, nothing says you can't install another copy of Powerchurch to a separate directory just to take care of the Preschool. In that way, you can definitely keep the funds separate, and they can have their Aug/July budget without affecting the church.

I need to emphasize why I suggested another installation of Powerchurch above, and why it is very legal.

Powerchurch is registered to the CHURCH, and the site license granted gives the church the right to install as many copies of Powerchurch as needed within that particular church community, on separate computers, even on personal home computers if the use is for that particular church.

Since the preschool is affiliated with the church, this is a permissible use.

A non-permissible use would be to install a copy of Powerchurch for use by a privately run non-profit NOT affiliated with the licensed church.

Thank you for the idea.
I access PC+ from our network, thus I could install the actual program on my computer and set up the Preschool. However, are you confident the Powerchurch programs would run independently and not overlap data? Do you have a similar set up?

I'm very confident, I have three copies of Powerchurch setup on one of my machines, 1 copy of v10, and two copies of v11.

The main thing is when the Powerchurch installer asks you if you want to install in the default directory, change that to a different directory such as /Powerchurch/v11Preschool.

Then after it creates the desktop icon, change the Title of the icon to something other than the default icon text.
