Financial Reports Missing Last Digit
Our church is using V10 of PowerChurch. Our administrative secretary and treasurer are reporting that the final digit in the current year column on reports is missing. They have checked the Forum for help in resolving this problem. Being a critical time in the fiscal year, it is important that we get this problem resolved as quickly as possible. Is there anyone out there who has experienced a similar problem and can help us identify a quick solution. Any assistance will be sincerely appreciated.

Re: Financial Reports Missing Last Digit
Make sure that you have downloaded and installed the latest Maintenance Release for Version 10. This was something that was reported several times over the years with specific models of printers.

Re: Financial Reports Missing Last Digit
Thanks for the suggestion, but I have already installed Ver 10.4 which is the most recent maintenance release. Any further suggestions concerning how this problem was previously resolved for others who reported this problem?
Re: Financial Reports Missing Last Digit
Just to clarify, v10.4 is not a maintenance release, it is a version update. The most recent maintenance release for PCPlus v 10/10.4 is dated 11/21/2011. Make sure this is the program date when you check the date using the HELP -> About Powerchurch Plus, then check the date on the System Information tab.pudgyswede wrote:Thanks for the suggestion, but I have already installed Ver 10.4 which is the most recent maintenance release. If it is dated 11/21/2011, check to see if this is happening on when you print on another printer. If it is, then please let us know what brand and type of printer you're using, and how you're printing the reports.

Re: Financial Reports Missing Last Digit
We released updates to the reports to narrow the side margins down because a few printers on the market have a very wide unprintable area along the right side of the page. These changes would come down in the latest Maintenance Release.
It was something that came up once a week or so a few years ago, then we issued an update, and it thinned out. Then it was once every three months and we issued another update and now it's been probably two years or more since I have heard of this.
As a work around, try saving a PDF of the report. This will automatically adjust the report to fit within the margins of your printer. Or, if you have a different printer, try using that to see if all the numbers come out.

Re: Financial Reports Missing Last Digit
Thanks for the suggestions provided so far, but we still have not come up with the solution to our problem of the lost digit.
We checked and we have the maintenance release PCPlus v 10/10.4 dated 11/21/2011 installed.
We tried saving the reports as PDF files and then printing. Problem still persists.
We tried printing using different printers but problem persists. We used the following printers: HP OfficeJet J6480 and Ricoh Aficio 2018D.
Any ideas concerning where to go from here in our efforts to solve this frustrating problem will be appreciated

Re: Financial Reports Missing Last Digit
OK .. when you view them within Powerchurch, the reports show the digit, but when you print from Powerchurch they do not. When you save to PDF, and view the PDF, does the digit show ??
Try saving as a Word DOC, then opening in Word. If you see the digit there, try printing from Word, and seeing what happens.
FWIW .. if you see the digit in the PDF before its printed, or in Word before its printed, then its a printer issue, not a Powerchurch one. It could be that the settings on the printers need to be adjusted to include the 'print' area.
The OfficeJet is an ink-jet printer, they sometimes have margin settings that do not always conform to what you want. The Ricoh is a copier/Laser Printer ... it should be able to handle the printing, but again, I'd check to see what the printer margins are set as.

Re: Financial Reports Missing Last Digit
Thanks NeilZ. I sincerely appreciate your effort to provide consultation.
Obviously I did not make it clear this is definitely a software rather than printer problem. When generating the reports in PowerChurch the reports are always missing the last digit when they appear on the screen. When subsequently printed, saved as a PDF or saved as a Word document the last digit is missing since it never appeared in the original report generated from within PowerChurch.
If there are any PowerChurch technical support people monitoring this forum I think you may need to weigh in on this issue.
Thanks!

That was my intent, to get more clarification for the techies, just to make sure that the report was generated that way, and not just a printing problem.pudgyswede wrote:Thanks NeilZ. I sincerely appreciate your effort to provide consultation.

How many columns are being used on the report, and have you tried formatting as landscape ??

Re: Financial Reports Missing Last Digit
How are you running the report? Which report are you running and what selections are you making? At this point it might be useful to have as specific detail as possible.

Re: Financial Reports Missing Last Digit
A decision has been made to have our Administrative Secretary initiate a call to PowerChurch Technical Support for further assistance since the problem appears to be more complex than we initially thought. Having me act as an intermediary trying to answer questions has proved awkward at best. I have shared a copy of this forum thread with her as background for her call.
Thanks to all who have attempted to provide consultation through the Forum. I hope our work with the technical support people will get the problem resolved.

Re: Financial Reports Missing Last Digit
That is not a bad idea, as it does not appear to be a widespread issue. If you wouldn't mind, when you get it resolved, come back here and let us know what the problem was, so that we have a fix or a hint of a fix available here.pudgyswede wrote:A decision has been made to have our Administrative Secretary initiate a call to PowerChurch Technical Support for further assistance since the problem appears to be more complex than we initially thought. Re: Financial Reports Missing Last Digit
The problem became a bit more confusing before it was resolved. Upon further review we found that the financial reports appeared properly in PowerChurch on three of the four computers running PowerChurch V10 from our network. The fourth computer belonging to the Administrative Secretary responsible for running all financial reports was not properly showing reports prior to printing. The final digit (second one following decimal point) was not showing up in the columns on her onscreen report nor was it printing properly.
Working with the PowerChurch Technical Support staff we found that somehow a standard setting in Windows 7 had been corrupted. The default setting for digits following the decimal point was set to 1 rather than the default of two. We had tried adjusting decimal settings in PowerChurch without luck and had also attempted to adjust decimal settings in MS Word and MS Excel to see if we could get the PowerChurch generated reports to print properly. Also looked into margin settings on printers we use.
After much head scratching and some trial error the tech support person came up with the following solution which I offer to save other users time if facing a similar problem. The fix we used is as follow.
In Windows 7 from the desktop take the following steps:
1. Click Start Button
2. Select Control Panel
3. Select Clock, Language, Region
4. Select Region & Language
5. Select Change Date, Time or Number Format
6. Select Region & Language Box
7. Select Additional Settings
8. Select Number of Digits After Decimal
9. Enter the number 2
Hope this information saves other PowerChurch users time and frustration if faced with a similar problem in the future.
By the way, the PowerChurch technical support person we worked with was terrific.
Thanks to those on the forum who offered their assistance with this problem along the way.
