DESIGNATING FUNDS IN CHECKING ACCT

I have recently upgraded to PC 11.5 and restarted accounting. Everything is working great and in balance o.k. it took a few corrections but I'm in good shape now. On a spreadsheet I manually track some amounts that are in our checking account that are actually designated contributions and we also just set aside a percentage of our monthly contributions for specific purposes, i.e. camp, conventions, etc. What would be the best way to handle these funds in PC so I can stop the manual tracking?

If the donor requests a designation, then it is good to learn how to use the Temporarily Restricted functions in PowerChurch. There are many threads already posted on this subject, so you can search this forum for help.

If the church wants to designate things for convenience, here's what I do. I create a GROUP ACCOUNT for checking and sub-accounts for all the special categories. Like this:

01-1110-000 GENERAL FUND CHECKING (GROUP - level 4)
01-1110-010 checking account (detail - level 6)
01-1110-020 camp (detail - level 6)
01-1110-030 conventions (detail - level 6)
01-1110-040 etc. (detail - level 6)

Then move the money like this:
CR 01-1110-010 checking account $100.00
DB 01-1110-020 camp $100.00

It's fairly easy to maintain.
