Payroll

Post by angel1 »

We are currently using version 11.5, for contributions only, and are still using 10.4 for accounting. Our previous Finance team did not use payroll in 10.4, but instead was using a free version via the web. This version is now causing some problems and I set up the payroll in 10.4 (we are still trying to get our chart of accounts correct), and was having a problem with the tax portion (for example if someone claims exemptions other than zero how do I change that). Also if I proceed with the payroll in 10.4 until we get 11.5 chart of accounts will I be able to transfer that information in the11.5 module?

Any assistance you could give would be appreciated.

I forget how Payroll was handled in 10.4, however, this Knowledgebase article may help you in some areas:
https://www.powerchurch.com/support/kb. ... 161&type=2

That said ... since it appears you're going to be starting Accounting from scratch, you won't be able to import anything from 10.4 unless you do a complete upgrade cycle. And considering you've already imported Membership and Contributions, it is NOT a good idea to do that unless you're really experienced at doing Powerchurch backups using the individual module backups.

If you want more info on that, please let us know here.

My advice ... get as much of your COA together as you can, and get 11.5 Funds Accounting setup, if you're waiting on different ministries to give you information, you can add that data as you get it, but frankly, you're never going to have a perfect COA, and you'll be tweaking it for years ;)

Thanks so much. I was waiting on information such as cost of land when it was initially purchased, and cost of the buildings which first built. Our church's recordkeeping was not the best. Our current facility was built in the 70's but the land was purchased in the 60's. Just wanted this portion of our assets to be correct, if skipped is there a way to go back and add this information ?

Yes .. you can add these types of assets later.

For an example of adding an asset, see this thread:

and one specifically for land here:
