Starting over after loss of Church Treasurer
I am just coming on board to help my church with PCP version 8. No accounts have been closed out in two years nor any statements produced. Should I start all over again with a new chart of accounts or is there a way to manually close out the previous years and enter in new budget and fund information?

If nothing has been done in two years then I would definitely recommend starting over again. Also, version 8 is very old (over 10 years). The newer versions of PCP have a "Restart Accounting" feature where you can wipe the slate clean and start over. Given the age of the version you are currently using and the vast improvements that have been made in the software since then, I would highly recommend that you upgrade to the current version. Once you have upgraded you can easily do a restart of accounting so you can start over again.

I'd definitely thing about spending the money on an upgrade to v11.5. There was changes in Accounting in v9, and payroll in v11 that are well worth the money.
Not to mention the other changes in Membership and in Contributions reporting and ease of corrections.

I am a qualified PowerChurch trainer and I currently work three jobs using PowerChurch. I'm considering doing some additional work in this area. If you would like more information, please email me at bookshelpplus@yahoo.com.

Hmmm .. I don't see you on the list of authorized trainers. I would not do any business with you unless you were on the authorized list.

You are correct that I am not on their website, although I am qualified. I didn't mean to mislead you in any way. In the future I will have to word my posts more carefully. I do, however, have several letters of recommendation. Best of luck to you.

Re: Starting over after loss of Church Treasurer
Thanks for all of your input. I just received PCP version 11.5 and prayerfully, we will get moving. Just found out that A/P, contributions and payroll have continued for the past two years under period 1204. I now have 45 days of tech support and it looks like I will be a bit more difficult to start all over again.
