We are in the process of using the accounting side of Power Church and wondered if you think having two checking accounts (one for expenses paid out of our Tithe acct, and the other for expenses for our ministry accounts) is a wise choice?
Re: Accounting
Which is the account where the operating funds come from ?? Do you move money from one to the other? What was the idea to have two separate accounts ??SDurham wrote:We are in the process of using the accounting side of Power Church and wondered if you think having two checking accounts (one for expenses paid out of our Tithe acct, and the other for expenses for our ministry accounts) is a wise choice?

Re: Accounting
Our general fund (Tithe/Offerings) is used for operating expenses. No we do not move funds from one account to another. Ministry accounts fund their individual accounts and all expenses are paid from those accts. The question of two accts was mentioned because prior to our Pastor establishing the Finance Committee, the Trustee Board had two checking accounts. We don't really see a need for two.

If you're paying expenses for ministries out of the Operating Fund, which is how many churches do it, you don't need a separate checking account for that sort of things.SDurham wrote:Our general fund (Tithe/Offerings) is used for operating expenses. By using Powerchurch you're keeping track of all the income and expenses, and have a good audit trail on that so there is really no need for another checking account.
