Subaccount balance carryover from previous year.

Post by DebbieR »

Is there a way to know the carryover from last year, the balance of a subaccount. If I enter December 2013 I have a balance, but if I enter January 2014 that balance does not show up.

All of the Income and Expense accounts "close" at the end of your year (usually December, but you can set any month to be your 12th month). To "close" means to zero-out the individual accounts into your equity account.

In order to keep a balance into January, you would have to transfer the amount into an Asset or Liability account.

If you cannot restore a backup and go back into December, the amount that you are looking for is probably in 01-3110-000.

In other words, you can manually restore the money back into an income account (in January of the new year) like this:
DB 01-3110-000 $100 Restore 2013 money into account
CR 01-4121-000 $100 Restore 2013 money into account
