Deleting Old Fund Data

Post by tena20719 »

Hello,

I have an old fund "Fund 20" that is no longer active. Can anyone tell me if I go to Fund Accounting and select the option that says "Delete Old Data", can I just pick a certain fund that I want to delete?

Thanks so much,

Tena

The Delete Old Data function does not have the capability to define what is being deleted other than by date.

If you want to eliminate it from all reports, and the fund is in the middle of other funds, you could renumber it to 99 (or ZZ for that matter) in the Maintain List of Accounting Funds. Then in the reports, make sure its not selected in the filtering.

Hi Neil!

Thanks for the insight. Using the date criteria won't work because I don't want to lose the data in my other funds.

I was really wanting to delete the fund itself so I could then delete the fund accounting numbers associated with that fund and then free those numbers up to use again in another fund.

Thanks anyway!

If you change the fund to a number that would not be included in your reports, like I changed a fund to fund 99 so that I won't include it in any other reports. You could also change the fund accounting numbers to something else, then you could reuse the old numbers for what you wanted. This assumes that the fund accounting numbers were only used in the one fund you want to delete. If they are used in other active funds then that would not work since it would change that number for all the funds it was used.
