Months not in past 12 months

Post by cOdY »

I get this when I try to enter some numbers for our money market account. I don't know if there will be an ramifications for that, and was wondering if someone could tell me. We have our books open back to January 2013, and I'm trying to post in March. What will this screw up? Thanks

This sounds like you have your Funds Accounting months setup to only have 12 months open, which is the default, you can change it to 18 months. You need to have the SysAdmin access the menu under File -> Preferences -> Accounting. Under the Funds Accounting tab change the number of months to 18.

This will give you up to June 2014 to post, however, past there, you need to close a month at the beginning, in your case January 2013, to open July 2014.

I checked and we have the 18 months open, but it says that March 2013 is not in the last 12 months. I was just wondering if it will mess anything up if I post that interest in March. Thanks for the previous reply!

If you've not listed that interest income anywhere else, it shouldn't affect anything. However, have you ever reconciled that account before? If so, you should have been off by the amount of the interest. If you've never reconciled that account, then it should reconcile to zero when this is finished.

As always, I suggest do a backup prior to making any change, so you can revert back in case of a problem.
