Hi! We have PowerChurch version 11.5, and we are wondering if we have two Fund Accounts, can we use the same bank account number for both funds? We tithe to "Outreach", which is money we use for people in our community that needs a small project done, once a month. It is our own fund, so we have not been able to figure out the best way to record this because it comes out of our general fund and goes back into our general fund. We thought that maybe we would set up another fund account to put that money into, but we do not want another checking account for it. Would this be best, or would restricted funds be better for this situation?

Re: Adding another Accounting Fund
You can use a separate fund for this, and consider the second fund "restricted" without having to go through the actual procedures of restricting it through PowerChurch.
We do something similar, because it is not the donors who are requesting the restriction, rather, it is the decision of the church to restrict it. (which technically, is not a restriction).
The easiest way to do this is to use the Contribution Module and have 10% of the General Tithes put into the second fund automatically.
In Fund Accounting, create your two funds, presumably Fund 01 and Fund 02, and your checking accounts, presumably 01-1110-000 and 02-1110-000.
In Contributions: set up a Fund 101 General Tithes
DB 01-1110-000 checking
CR 01-4110-000 general tithes income
In Contributions: set up a Fund 201 Automatic tithe
Contributions / Setup / Maintain List of Contribution Funds / [Accounting tab]
DB 02-1110-000 checking
CR 02-4120-000 outreach tithe income
"this fund is to receive 10%"
"of contribution fund 101's donations"
When you post $1,000 of contributions in Fund 101 in the Contributions module with the option to create Fund Accounting entries, PowerChurch will automatically create two Fund Accounting Entries, which will appear in Fund Accounting / Modify Unposted Transactions
They will be:
$900 in 01-1110-000 and
$100 in 02-1110-000
Then, you can post them in Fund Accounting to make them permanent.
