Accounting Setup
After setting accounting preferences for the fiscal year beginning January, 2015, I was locked out of entering current year (2014) account balances and budgets. How can I backup just the chart of accounts and redo the accounting setup to include the current year, then restore my chart of accounts?
Re: Accounting Setup
Were you entering a budget for 2015? This should not stop you from accessing 2014.talewinesr wrote:After setting accounting preferences for the fiscal year beginning January, 2015, I was locked out of entering current year (2014) account balances and budgets. Could you be specific on how you set the preferences ??
The only other way to fix this is to restore a backup made before you started the process. You did do a backup of Accounting first, I hope.

Re: Accounting Setup
I did a backup after I completed my chart of accounts, then tried to enter 2014 budgets. There was no way to get to 2014 since I had set the new year for January, 2015. When I restarted accounting and restored by COA backup, the same problem existed.
Re: Accounting Setup
Did you restart accounting to redo your COA ?? I'm trying to understand exactly how you redid your COA, as if you were just editing the existing COA, you wouldn't have this issue.talewinesr wrote:I did a backup after I completed my chart of accounts, then tried to enter 2014 budgets. If you did restart, then you have no choice but to restart accounting once again, and then tell the system that you're starting in 2014. You'd have to print out what the COA looks like using the COA report, then restart, then enter.
However, I'd give Powerchurch support a call directly, they may have a way around this.

Re: Accounting Setup
Thanks. The problem seems to be that the backup I made restores the original preferences over those that I make after the restart. If there was some way to isolate the COA on the backup, and if I could just restore it, that would be preferable. I guess I'll have to check in with support.
