Payrol Question

Post by cindybowen »

On the 941 federal tax return form, my line 2 amount will not match my 5a column1 or 5c column 1 amount (on purpose). Can I indicate in payroll which salary's are not included in 5a column 1 and 5c column 1?

They should be indicated by not having the SS & Medicare pay items listed in their list of pay items, but you can add it as a note in the payroll information.

No, they're not indicated on their payroll, which is what I can't figure out. It's not a problem to change the amount manually, I just would like to have the luxury of not doing so.

You should have separate pay items for Employer's SS and Medicare Contributions, and they should be assigned to all those who have SS & Medicare deducted. Since SS & Medicare are at the same rate again, your pay items should be pointing to the SS & Medicare tax tables.

Here's a tutorial on the tax table setup: https://www.powerchurch.com/support/375 ... in-payroll

No there isn't. You can setup an employee as hourly, but you would have to enter the hours worked by hand from a time sheet or other program.
