Limited Length of Acct Description Lines?

Under Maintain Chart of Accts, why is the number of characters I can type in the blank shorter than the line itself? Frustrating!
And the number of characters allowed seems to vary...

Usually its limited by the size of the data item on the table.

Account descriptions are 25 characters. The length does not vary from one account to the next. The input fields in PowerChurch use a variable size font. So an 'i" and "W" do not take the same amount of space on the screen. We try to size the fields so that by the time you get to 25 characters the field is about full. I general we use roughly 9 - 10 pixels per character for the sizing on the fields. Usually it seems to be a good compromise for fields widths.
