importing existing members in new install

Post by ATLDEL30039 »

Hello PC Forum,

I needed to reinstall Power Church. I only want the member information i.e. names, addresses and envelope numbers but no past contributions. How can I get just that information.

Thank you,

PK

If you still have access to your old installation, do a backup of just the membership files. It's an option on the backup dialog.

Then, in your new installation, restore your membership backup. You'll get membership data, but no accounting or contribution information. Should be good to go.

If you don't have access to the old installation, and all you have is the full backup file, you can do a partial restore. It's in the restore dialog. But, note the warning on this video tutorial. https://www.powerchurch.com/support/369 ... store-data

I don't know whether the partial restore allows you to select complete modules, or forces you to select the backup set file by file. That's a question for tech support.

But ... what you want to do can be done.

Good luck.

Vic

Reinstall the backup, then go to Contributions -> Setup -> Delete Old Data. You can then delete all the contribution data, and leave the pledges. Or delete all the pledges and keep the Contribution data. Or use the function twice to first delete the contributions, then again to delete the pledges.

This makes sure that if you want to keep the settings you created for the Contribution Funds, you still have that in the system. If you do what Vic advises, you'd lose that.

Probably won't happen anytime soon, the only thing that will allow you to have such access is Powerchurch Online. However, if you have a remote access client that works on the iPad (I'm thinking VnC or LogMeIn) you can set the server up on your main Powerchurch server/computer and access that way. I use LogMeIn so I can access the church where I'm the admin from home via laptop or Android tablet.
