Fund status

Post by Pat »

We have a fund in Power Church that we no longer use. Is there a way to change the status on that fund to 'inactive'? We are currently using Power Church 11.5.

Thanks!

You didn't denote if you're talking accounting funds, but since this is the accounting topic, I'll assume so. Then no, you cannot make it inactive, as there are probably transactions in the system against that fund and until seven years have gone by since the last transaction against that fund, you cannot delete it per IRS regulations. After that time, you can run a delete old transactions on accounting to clear out those 8 year old items. Then you can delete the fund.

However, you can renumber the fund to 99 or ZZ and take it out of the standard reports. You'll have to consciously enter the Fund numbers you want reports on when creating Accounting Reports, but if you have funds with numbers/indicators of 01, BU, DE, MS, by making the indicator ZZ, it should not show up in the reports as it would then be the last fund in the system list.

You can test this by doing a backup, changing the indicator to ZZ, then running a report using the range you now have.
