There is no way to put something on the memo line in Payroll. What do you want to have printed there?

Memo Line

We gave an extra paycheck as a Christmas bonus and wanted to have that show up in power church as a Christmas gift.

I do that by adding another income line called "GIFT".

Memo line

Could you be more specific with adding an income line. Do you mean an item description in the payroll module. If so, what account do you debit? We have Pastor salary as 01-5300. Do you debit it or do you set up another account in the Chart of accounts? Thanks for your help.

Sorry about that. I often need to be more specific in some of my posts. Yes it is an item description in the payroll module. In our case we have a budget item for employee gifts at Christmas time. So for us it is a different account than the normal salary account. We in fact have several employees which we do this with. If you pay the gift out of the Pastor Salary account you could use that same account and set the W2 information the same as in the item description you use for the normal salary payment. This way all of the deductions will be correct and it will be reported on the W2 as it should be. You will then have the gift broken out in any payroll reports you might need.

Hope this helps. Feel free to post back if this is not clear.

The answer is listed above, and this is a 9 year old topic. Its often best to start a new topic, and in that topic, please let us know what version of Powerchurch you're using and the version of Windows.

This was true in 2004, but is no longer the case. After Payroll was redesigned in Version 11, you can now enter a note in the Memo line on the check from the Process Payroll screen, on the next to last step "Verify Payroll". Select a check in the list and click the Check Detail screen. Memo is one of the fields on that page.
