Hello,
I'm new to PChurch. Am setting up after using Simply for many years. I am wondering, if I set up PC in the accounting using my old Chart of accounts, rather than the PC charts (set up with categories), is the program going to work? Will it be less efficient? We are looking forward to better reports, applying to churches (will I be causing that not to work, if I set it up different)?
I am unable to watch u-tubes... (pay for internet use by GB).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure what you mean by 'categories'. The 'vanilla' Chart of Accounts in Powerchurch is broken down by income, liabities, assets, expenses, then by ministry and so on.MVA wrote:Hello,

If you can explain what you currently have for a COA, instead of what PCPlus gives as a default it may help with advice.

Re: Set-up from other program
Hi, thank you for your response.
Simply is set up similarly, Assets, capitol assets, liabilities, net assets, restricted assets, Revenues contributions, Ministries, missions, special projects, general revenue, Expenses special projects, missions, payroll, operating
I was thinking that I'd like to keep my chart of accounts numbers the same, losing the structure that is set up in Power Church Plus... thinking that it would be easier for me to set up, but I don't want to lose the advantages of this new program.
I am not really sure how its all going to work, whether posting will work the same, or similar, or all together different. Maybe I should try the demo first?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Set-up from other program
The COA structure in Powerchurch is setup using standard accounting numbering, assets: 1000, Liabilities:2000, Equity(assets): 3000, Income:4000, expenses 5000 to 8999, transfer accounts: 9000.MVA wrote:Hi, thank you for your response.

The system expects the accounts to conform to this standard numbering scheme. You can modify the suggested list of accounts, but you can't deviate from the type of account assigned to the numbering.
Trying the Demo is a good idea to see how the system works, how posting from the different Accounting modules work (Accounts Payable, Payroll). Note that the demo is only setup for one accounting fund, operations.
Take a look at the demo, then come back with your questions.
