Pastor's W2 shows only housing allowance in Box 14 and pre-tax deductions in box 12a. There is no salary, no Social Security offset, and no voluntary FICA deduction showing on W2. i.e. Box 1 is blank. Is this something related to our item set-up. How do we fix this????

Definitely has something to do with setup, but without more info we're in the dark!

1. How is the salary pay item setup?
Is it shown as Taxable Income? Do you have it setup for FITW?

2. Is the SS Offset setup as Taxable Income?

3. Is the FICA shown as a Tax Deduction? Is it setup as a Medicare tax type ?

As you can see, any additional information you have on the Pay Item setup would help.

Thank you for responding to my email. The questions you are asking helped us to understand what we may have wrong in our set-up. This is the first year we have done paychecks on site and first time for running W2's. We are working now on doing some changes on our set-up and will get back to you if we still have questions. Now our situation is our W2 Box 1 amount does not match the GL activity report or the payroll item summary for the salary amount given. It is short what appears to be close to one paycheck's salary amount. Housing allowance and SS allowance reconcile but the salary does not balance. Help??

There is obviously some check, or other income item that was not included. You need to track that down to see what it is.

The alternative is just edit the W2 prior to printing to adjust it and the W3 to what you believe it should show.
