Two churches are using the same building, but want to keep separate accounting. I would rather use one computer, they both have a license. What is the least cumbersome way of maintaining the accounting? Is anyone else doing this?
Thanks.

If they each have a license, then its fairly easy to do. I'm going to assume that the 1st church already has PCPlus installed on the computer, and that you have copied down the registration number for the 2nd church's copy, and performed a backup of the database.stpaulser wrote:Two churches are using the same building, but want to keep separate accounting. I'm also going to assume that both churches will be doing their membership & contributions in their copy of the program. This is probably the easiest way to maintain the systems, otherwise you'll be having to worry about overwriting databases if you're trying to sync two different computers.
1. Install a second copy of Powerchurch. When the installer starts, enter a NEW directory for the second church. For example: C:\2nd_Church_Powerchurch\PCPLUS115. The installer will install to that new location, and should create a second PCPlus icon on the desktop.
2. Right Click on the second icon, select properties, then the GENERAL tab and change the title to 2nd_Church, so it will appear on the desktop as 2nd_Church. If the system DID NOT create a second icon, open the THIS PC/Computer link from the START menu, find the new directory that was created in step 1, go into the PCPLUS115 directory, then find the pcplus115 executible. Right click on that and select SEND TO and select DESKTOP (create shortcut) from the list. Then change the title as described above.
3. Click on the new icon to start the program, and select NEW INSTALLATION. Enter the 2nd churches data, and registration number. It will then create the new tables as needed. Disregard any questions about registering online, as its probably been done already. Close the program, then restart and then restore the backup of the database from the 2nd church.
You should be ready to go.

Thanks! Sounds perfect. I was wondering if I could just do two installs or if they would interfere with each other.

If you have them separated as described above, its not a problem.stpaulser wrote:Thanks! Sounds perfect. I was wondering if I could just do two installs or if they would interfere with each other.
