help resolving error message

Post by yoknox »

Wrote check for a vendor but did not have sufficient money in construction fund account. Did not have time to transfer money at bank from one account to another. Used fund 01 checking and fund 02 construction in progress account in writing check When saving, received error message "the total debits and credits in each accounting fund do not balance". What is the correct way to handle this?

The system is warning you that you're going to put the funds out of balance. There is no correct way to handle this outside of transferring funds from one FUND to the other, or just use an expense account in Fund 1.

There are a few things you may want to think about in going forward:

1. Use your bank's online system so you can easily transfer money between accounts, or
2. Only use one checking account for all your funds, let the system track how much is in each fund, so you won't have to worry about transferring funds at the bank in future, just within Powerchurch itself. Not to mention then you have a full audit trail of all transactions.
