Payroll - Federal Exemptions

Post by pessner »

It doesn't look like PowerChurch payroll software considers # of federal allowances/exemptions when calculating federal tax. However, it does on state calculations.

Am I not seeing something?

The system uses the number of exemptions as listed on the Fed Withholding pay item for each employee. As long as you have the Federal Tax Table setup correctly, the taxes will be properly calculated.

I found the 2016 Federal Tax Tables online. I updated the Federal Withholding 2016 Table on the Annual Rate Table tab in Setup under Maintain Tax Tables. On the "Deduction and Information" tab - PowerChurch is currently set up with the "Withholding Allowance" set at 0.01. This is the only Federal Tax table that is set up in the software.

Should there be a federal rate table set up with the different withholding allowances needed in order for the taxes to be calculated differently? Example - Federal withholding 1 exemption; Federal withholding 2 exemptions; I can't seem to find any Help in the online help documentation.

Would anyone be willing to talk with me (phone) regarding this?

Pat .. which version of Powerchurch are you using?

Here is a video tutorial on setting up the Federal Tax tables:
https://www.powerchurch.com/support/375 ... in-payroll

And a Knowledge Base article with the step by step instructions:
https://www.powerchurch.com/support/140 ... tax-tables

Note .. you should have BOTH married & single tables setup.

As far as talking to a person, if you haven't yet used your included telephone support, then you have some time that won't cost you anything; but I suspect you'll get your answers from the above links, along with the instuctions in the Powerchurch manual and online help.

Neil - I changed both tables. Miracles happen when things are set up correctly. Pat
