Payroll

Post by TBM »

I looking at using the Payroll section to maintain the
Church employment records. Before I start down the wrong path. I would like to here from any one who has setup their church's payroll and have any suggestion of things to consider. Do you print tax forms?

I just got done doing this myself. One big thing you need to get straight is the taxable vs. non taxable income. This got tricky for me because our pastor was receiving both a housing allowance and was contributing part of is check to a tax deferred retirement account. Another thing is making sure to click on the right boxes on the W-2 tab when setting up the pay items so that the numbers on the W-2 come out right. This is not as easy as it sounds when you have taxable income, non-taxable income, and tax deferred deductions.
