beginning balances out of balance

Post by ellenmykkanen »

I have an old Accounting Fund that has an account balance that dates back to only the starting balance for a Retained Earnings account (i.e. the fund is out of balance). When I run a trial balance for the beginning balances of the accounting fund, it is out of balance by the amount of the retained earnings account, so it looks like it was set up incorrectly back in 2012.
I want to get rid of that beginning balance somehow, since I don't believe its correct in any way. I don't think I can do a transaction to fix it because it began out of balance.
Thanks for your help,

Ellen
