Balance Sheet Total Different from Check Register Total
Hi! The checking account total on our balance sheet is higher/different than the ending balance total on our check register for July 2017. The ending balance total on the check register is correct and in balance with the statement from our bank. Do you have any advice on why this might be or give us ideas on where to look for the answer? Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Does the Balance Sheet balance? That is do the Total Assets shown on the balance sheet equal the total of your liabilities and equity. If so, then you're OK.laceyumc wrote:Hi! What is the ending date of the bank statement? The balance sheet report will always use the last day of the month, whether its Feb 28/29, June 30th or July 31st, as the day it uses to calculate what it shows.
Also, are you including 'Unposted Transactions" in the Balance Sheet report? If so, that can throw off the Check Register as you have not yet posted checks and/or deposits to funds accounting, so that won't show up in the check register.
You're trying to compare two different things that may have snapshots of your accounting data from different times.
Here's another thread that asked the same question as your's: https://www.powerchurch.com/forum/viewt ... 250#p20978

Thank you Neil. It was an issue with the posting month on two transactions not being correct. Problem solved.
