Setup A Retirement Deduction Item

Post by jerryrus »

I am reading page 281 "how to to setup a retirement deduction" and it's really unclear. It says "check the option box that reads "Set up a retirement deduction item". PowerChurch Plus will automatically create the deduction item.
I have no clue where to find this option. Help!

That's in the section under Payroll Setup Assistant. I'm going to assume that you already have payroll setup. So you want the section for Maintain Item Descriptions and follow the instructions for adding a new item description. Since this is, apparently, a employee deduction, you want to create an item of type Other Deduction, then as you go through those steps, look for the area concerning other deductions.

Does this help?

Yes. Thank you. When the pastor contributes to a retirement fund this is a pre-tax deduction?

It can be either way, depends on the type of retirement fund. If the funds are taxed when they are redeemed at the retirement age, then its pre-tax. If the funds are not taxed when redeemed, its after tax.
