Setting up a new investment account

Post by ijb403b »

We have just added a new CD. I have added the CD to the chart of accounts, but do not know how to add the opening balance. The other investments we have were set up during the initial set up process. How do I add a beginning balance to this new account?

You will need to update the asset and the fund balance account associated with it.

Here's the basic transaction, if you have an investment account setup as 1325-000, and a net assets for investments at 3310-000, and the amount is 10000.00, the transaction would be:

xx-1325-000 DB 10000.00
xx-3310-000 CR 10000.00

Using PC+ since 1999.
