Payroll for teachers

Post by bgaines »

What is the best way to set up the system to handle payroll for teachers who are on a 9 month payment schedule. For instance, each teacher has a salary, but is based on 38 weeks of work (semi-monthly or 2 paychecks per month). If I enter in a salary into the system, it determines the amount per paycheck based on a 12-month period.

It is not required that the automatic calculation by PC+ of the employee's salary per pay period be in sync with what you actually want the gross pay for that employee to be for that pay period. I would recommend that you enter the annual salary of the employee on the Payroll Information tab of the Maintain List of Employees Screen. Then input the actual salary that you want to pay the employee (based on 9 months) for that pay period on the Pay Item on the Maintain Employee Pay Items Screen.
