Hi,
I have PCP+ on a network with two desktops and a laptop. How can I get the current data on the network on a remote system offsite?
I have another PC at a remote site.
Thx

There's not a way to do this natively within PowerChurch, but there are some third party programs where folks have reported some success when using them. The first that comes to mind is http://gotomypc.com. You can also set up Terminal Services too, if you have the resources for that.
I'm pretty sure there's a thread here on the board where this has actually been discussed already.
EDIT: Actually, there are several:

Networking Data
Hi Zapod,
Thx for your reply.
Would this work, if I backup the data on the network. Then I install the data on my remote pc thru the utilities module of PCP+?
Thx

Re: Networking Data
It will work, as long as you don't use the remote PC to do any updates otherwise you would be out of sync.melloby wrote:Hi Zapod,

FWIW ... we use GoToMyPC to allow our volunteer Treasurer to access the database on the Church's network, in this way she can do her work from home, and not have to worry about file corruption or having out-of-sync data.

Re: Networking Data
When you backup and restore data like that, you run the risk of overwriting data in one place or another, so like NeilZ said, be careful about making updates to the data. It can be done, and lots of folks I talk to do it that way, but you have to take care to not break anything along the way.melloby wrote:Hi Zapod,

Do all your workers use same PowerChurch modules. You are supposed to be able to backup and restore only the modules you want.
Once you get all your information on your offsite. If you are the only person using the Accounting Module. Then backup only the Accounting at offsite and restore only Accounting at work.
However, this isn't a feature I use, so I don't know if it causes problems.

Unfortunately, it can, if the contributions are posted directly to the accounting module. In that case, the remote copy would be out of sync.Kristi wrote:Do all your workers use same PowerChurch modules. You are supposed to be able to backup and restore only the modules you want.
