Church Store

Post by josyf »

hi All:
We have recently reinstated our small church store.
We've spent money to stock it with items and books.

Does anyone have any experience with this?
Currently, i have it set up as a simple income and expense lines in the general fund.

I'd like to be able to track money in/out and show the current profit/loss for the store in a simple report.
I was thinking setting it up as a passthrough account, although it really isn't.

ANy ideas welcom.

Thank you and Happy Memorial Day!

I'd set it up as a completely different fund, and not to blend it in with the general fund. That said, I would check with a CPA who is experienced with charities to see how this would affect your non-profit status, and how to account for any profits.

Frankly, any advice we could give on this would not be in any way official other than what I pointed out above.
