Forgot to Release Restricted Funds

Post by sica »

In the past few weeks I have received three checks that donors have given to be applied directly to our mortgage principle. When I entered the contributions, I entered them correctly as restricted funds. However, when I wrote the checks to the bank, I forgot to release the funds. I did this 3 times and just realized it. I have already posted these transactions. Can someone please tell me how I can show that the restricted funds have been used? When I print a balance sheet, it shows that the money is still in temporarily restricted funds. I have PC V9.
Thank You for any help you can give.

Just go ahead and do the release transaction now. It is a balanced transaction by itself and does not necessarily have to be part of the original transaction. You might want to make a note on the release transaction referencing the original check in case someone comes back and has a question about the release transaction.
