What scenario would result in a group of payroll checks printing, but not showing up in Fund Accounting? The only thing I can come up with is if I accidentally checked that I needed to reprint, but that brings up another screen, and I really don't recall doing that!
After making a backup, I printed them again on blank paper, using the same check numbers, and this time they show up in FA, but I'm afraid the originals will turn up when I least expect it. I'm not posting the payroll checks until I hear from someone.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Payroll checks that printed but aren't in Fund Acctg.

Are the payroll checks showing in the Payroll module, or are they completely missing from the whole system payroll and fund accounting?
If Payroll transactions are not found in the payroll module, I would guess that an accounting files backup has been restored that overwrote both the PR & FA module.
If Payroll transactions do exist in the PR module, but not the FA, it would point to unposted Fund Accounting transactions being deleted prior to posting.
If you are using version 9 of the program, you can check the audit logs to see if either of these are the answer. Go to the Utilities menu, then View System Audit Log. Check for any entries that say "Backup Restored."
Then go to Accounting > Fund Accounting > View Accounting Audit Log. Check for any entries that say "Unposted transaction deleted."

Payroll checks that printed but do not show up in Fund Acctg
The payroll checks did not show up in the Payroll module nor in fund accounting. No files were backed up or restored and no fund accounting transactions were deleted. I entered and printed the payroll checks for the salaried employees on Thursday afternoon, but waited until Friday to write the two hourly employees' checks, since I did not have their timecards until Friday. After I wrote the two hourly checks (as manual checks) I noticed that the others weren't showing up, either in payroll records or fund accounting. Then I made a backup before re-entering and printing the six "lost" checks on blank paper. Now everything seems ok, and all eight payroll checks are sitting in Fund Acccounting-unposted transactions.
I've checked the audit logs and didn't find anything out of the ordinary. It's a real mystery! Is it safe to post all the payroll checks in FA?

The scenario you describe sounds like a backup made prior to printing the checks was restored after the checks were printed. Since you say this didn't happen it's hard to tell what happened without actually having been there to see what was done. I'd say that if you can determine that the checks are posted only once in Payroll and once in Fund Accounting that you should be ok.
