W2 medicare w/h

Post by liz78644 »

I file annual form 944. Medicare wages on form are 348.19. My computer W3 totals would be 348.72. Two Employees w/h, one is off by 6 cents, the other 46 cents. What do i change to make the w2 & w3 right. Thanks. windows xp. version 9

The quick and dirty answer is to edit the W2/W3 prior to printing. When you generate the form, you have the opportunity to go in and make changes which will then be printed on the W2/W3. In this case, you'd change the witholding amount to be what you expect for each of those two employees. That'll get your W2s out the door. Then, you can go back at your leisure to see where something may have gotten entered incorrectly last year and correct it if you need.

Is there no entry on the form for fraction of cents correction as is on the 941 Form?? Also if you have already sent the money to the IRS you will need to match that amount on your 944 form. It gets pretty messy to try to correct this after the fact. I know I tried it in the past before I realized there was the fraction of cents correction on the 941 form.
