How to change a restricted fund to unrestricted
We set up a Repairs Reserve fund years ago and treated it as temporarily restricted. We now realize that as a board directed fund (the board transferred money from the general fund into this one as a rainy day fund) it it not a donor restricted fund at all. I have tried deleting it under the "maintain donor restrictions" panel, but it still shows up on the balance sheet under "restricted funds". Any advice?

Are there still funds in the fund balance account, and if not, have you made sure that no other accounts close to it. Once you do that, you 'should' be able to delete the account unless you have had transactions against it and those transactions have been fairly recent. If they are old, and over 7 years ago, you can do a Delete old data on accounting to clear out anything earlier than 2017.SunsetTreas wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 9:16 amWe set up a Repairs Reserve fund years ago and treated it as temporarily restricted. That said, you can RENUMBER the account (even if it has funds) to move it out from any 'restricted account' header. I would use the number 3199-00 as that puts it at the end of the default unrestricted funds list. You can then delete the name of the old restriction from the Maintain List of Donor Restrictions.
Finally, if a previous board directed that a fund be created for 'rainy days' this can be classified as a 'Restricted Fund' as the funds can not be spent unless the board okays it.
