If your chart of accounts has the accounts you need but they aren't organized the way you want you can use the move account feature in Fund Accounting to reassign the account numbers. If the chart of accounts is a real mess and there hasn't been a lot of entries posted in Fund Accounting you may want to consider restarting Fund Accounting. Doing so will allow the system to set up a default chart of accounts for you. The disadvantage is that you will lose any data that has already been posted in Fund Accounting. You may want to consider having an accountant take a look at your setup and how you would like your reports to look and advise you on the best way to accomplish this.

Chart of Accounts
I did our chart of accounts a couple of years ago when I was just learning how to use PowerChurch.(I'm still learning!) I added more accounts over the last two years and my account numbers were not very organized because I would run out of numbers to use in a certain category. First, I printed out a copy of my old chart of accounts. I changed all my old expense numbers to 8000 numbers (We had not assigned those numbers to any account yet). I then organized my accounts where I wanted them and penciled in the new number I wanted that account to be. I would look up the account I needed in the 8000 numbers and change it to the 5000 number I assigned to it. Our chart of accounts are a little more organized now. If this doesn't make sense, I would be glad to talk to you over the phone. Feel free to send me an email.
