Please explain the Released Funds - anything with 4000's account

Post by Leanne Admin »

Hello,

I have a reimbursement request for Operation Child. Would I use the release account 4823-107 or the 6020 account? I am old school from the paper accounting days and new to the release feature. Please explain.

Thank you,

Leanne

The release accounts are used with Donor Restricted Accounts. When you setup the account, the system will normally create a separate net assets, income, and release account; unless you decide you want to use existing accounts, which I do not recommend.

When you create a check that uses these restricted funds in Accounts Payable, under the Maintain Open Invoices you would enter all the information about the recipient of the check, the amount, then click the button at the bottom of the window that says 'Release Restricted Funds". The system will then create and add the needed release account lines. Again, this assumes you have created the Donor Restriction properly.

You still need to use a Credit (bank) account, as well as a Debit (Expense) account, which it appears should be 6020 in this case.

Since everything is split up here into different forums, like Maintenance Releases, General Questions, Accounting, Contributions, etc. just choose which forum you are wanting to post a message into from https://www.powerchurch.com/forum, then you will see the New Topic button at the top of the page.
