v.9 PC+
I made a new start on the accounting in January this year. I had three temporarily restricted balances to enter, which I put into equity accounts, for example $10.00 in Poinsettias 01-3212-102. A couple weeks later, I released the $10.00 restriction via 01-4812-102. However, the equity balance remains
at $10.00.
On the other hand, the new income for poinsettias $157.00, entered through 01-4212-102, does not show in the equity account at all. These accounts are all set to close to 01-3212-102. Maybe I don't know how equity accounts work.
I saw a recommendation to create subaccounts in my checking account to keep track of temporarily restricted balances, but then I noticed that was for Power Church versions earlier than 9, and that I shouldn't need to do that, but the equity balances are not working for me.

I'm looking at Sub-account Report, Trial Balance, and Account Activities--not sure, they are not all in front of me right now. Anyhow the equity accounts of the Sub-account Report and the Trial Balance show the original start balances only.
However, the Balance Sheet looks nicely correct!
Maybe I should just not look at the equity accounts themselves. All the others set "to close to it" add together with them, right?
Thanks.

The sub-account and the Trial Balance reports are not going to the show the equity accounts updated with the amounts that close to them. Take a look at the Balance Sheet, Account Activity, or the Changes in Equity reports. All these reports show the equity account with the amounts from the income & expense statement closed into them.
