Chart of Accounts
I've just started using PowerChurch v.9. We set up our own Chart of Accounts not realizing Powerchurch Setup assistant does this for you. Can and if so, how do we set up our own? We noticed the Powerchurch chart we cannot change some accounts such as Payroll records. We have set up our chart differently and these defaults don't coinside with our own setup. Please help, someone. Thanks!!

You can actually change or remove the payroll accounts, but first you have to remove their associations from the items that are created automatically in the Payroll module. (Accounting->Payroll->Maintain Item Descriptions). You can use the Account Dependencies Report in Fund Accounting to see what accounts are being used there.

Chart of Accounts Flexibility
Hello Everyone,
We moved to PC+ Aug 04 from Quickbooks Pro after six years. I found almost no restrictions in making the transition to PC+ V9. The only trick is that you can not delete an account once you have posted to it. I entered four years of prior years data by year for three of the years & monthly for 2004 so that we could have comparative data.
We have seven catorgies of personnel accounts & completly revised the sample chart of accounts.
I suggest that you:

I suggest that you:
- 1)Print out the sample Chart of accounts.
Accounting=>Fund accounting=>Reports=>Chart of accounts fund comparison.
I also suggest that you print out a couple of payroll reports, before you mess with the sample chart of accounts, also.
(accounting=payroll=>reports=>Payroll Items)
2) Determine how you want your accounts structured. (When possible use the sample chart of accounts as a model & maybe just change the names).
3) Go to accounting=>Fund accounting=>Maintain Chart of accounts.
Make your changes here.
4) Compare the sample chart of accounts' payroll catagories (Pastor's wages Expense, Min. Of Music wages, Auto Allowance Expense, etc. ) with what you classifiy (name) them as. Change the names of what you need only for now. I made a spreadsheet before I changed anything. I had made decisions regrading what accounts to group & the account numbers that I wanted to use.
PC+ will allow you to change account #s & to re-group your accounts as long as you have not posted anything to them.
After you have set up your chart of accounts then you are ready to deal with your payroll set up.
