Liability Reimbursement in FA

Post by songbird331 »

A member used the church credit card for personal use by mistake in April. They reimbursed the church in May. In contributions, I entered it as 01-2312-000 for reimbursements, and it still shows up under my Liabilities. The credit card has been paid. How do I get it off the liability on my balance sheet?

You should REVERSE the contribution. It should not have gone to that account.

Go to Contributions / View Posted Contributions and locate the contribution and REVERSE.

The repayment is not a tax-deductible contribution. However, you could count the repayment as General tithes and offerings.

If Fund 100 is your normal tithes and offerings, you could create fund 101:
DB 01-1110-000 checking
CR 01-4010-000 tithes and offerings

and create a non-tax deductible TYPE as I described here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9676&p=30500&hilit= ... ved#p30500
