Our church started PCP after first of year. Manually transferred data from old program and computer to new computer. Not understanding how to do PC I made a lot of errors. It is September and I still can not reconcile Jan. Thinking about starting all over but can not get program to let me start over. Info is way off so no way can give a valid financial report to Church board. Also having major problems with program on PCP
Thanks

The way to "start over" in Accounting is to go to:
Fund Accounting / Setup / Accounting Setup and click on RESET ACCOUNTING and confirming with YES
Then, you will be prompted through the setup wizard again.

What kind of major problems are you having with the program? Hopefully we can help.

After checking everything out, it seems we have a "glich" in system. Somehow another program got into PCP and was fighting with our computer and changing numbers and creating double entries into accounting. Numbers would change even though I was not entering transactions or writing check. No way to report to Ad Council what we actually had in accounts. Did a lot of old fashion manual calculations to come up with last report.
I have PCP disc loaded on my computer at home. It is same version as new computers at church. So have restarted the set up and all. When I did a flash drive from Church computers and transfered on my computer at home, to try to correct it, all I did was bring the "glich to my computer So deleted the program and put a clean, new download of PCP. Talked to support and they said it should be ok.
But have to get the "glith" out of church computer first or it will be same old problems.
Think I might try to delete accounting on Church computer first but do not know if that will mess up membership and contributions. T'aint Life Fun!!

Sounds like your church computer got a virus of some type. I hope that you don't need to wipe everything clean and start over.

Yipe!! Starting all over. I installed the program on my home computer. Same type of computer and same version. I tried to put present data in home computer but discovered gich came with it. Deleted that and started from day one. Just got my chart of accounts all set up and now putting in January 2013 info.
On old computer and Church Windows program putting in data so can present correct info to Ad Council. Fun Fun Fun!!!
Boy am learning lot. Support determined we have a glich. Something is in PCP data and is fighting to gain control of data in accounting. It is sporadic so can not put our finger on it. Ran virus check and etc. My back up are corrupt so dare not use them.
Support says when I get info on my computer to do a back and then restore on corrupt computer and hopefully will wipe out problem.
What is your feeling on this procedure. I sure do not wan to do all this work and find out it is a waste of time. I can not delete Membership & Contributions. They seem to be ok. They are on a different computer. Support said to do my work on their computer so won't compound the problem.
Thanks for your advice and support.

Just my two cents. Given this situation I would recommend you consider purchasing a subscription to PCP Online and forget about trying to use PCP on your computers. Once purchased you can upload your files and you will not need to worry about these glitches. You can also access PCP Online from your home and church so no need to be keeping PCP on different computers and having to back up and restore files between these computers.

Good Idea. Will check into cost.
Was concerned if they went down, if we could get our info. And also a privacy issue.
I am trying to find a person who can delete our glish. Suspect it came from old computer
as It was having similar problems. We thought it was just too old and had so much data on it.
Thanks, cmoore

You could probably do it yourself:
1. Do a complete Anti-Virus scan .. if you don't have an Antivirus installed, get one and install it.
2. Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from
www.malwarebytes.org ... run this program
I would do every single computer on your network.

We do have virus protection on computers.
Tomorrow am going into office and work on computers. No one in office
on Saturday so can get some work done. Nice and quiet.
Thanks for info.

Just an update. Still working on recreating accounting since Jan 1. Once I get Jan done will try to do that month on computer at work that has a gich. Ran so many virus scans and am not getting anything. Does not seem to be a virus. Something in PCP program.
I saw where last maintenance update was for the same problem I am having. It does seem to correct what was going on, but did not correct past months.
Hope what I am doing will correct past data so can use PCP for Accounting.

FWIW ...the 'glitch' you're having is (as far as I can tell from posts here) not universal. As far as correcting past months, the fix will only take care of new transactions. If you could reverse and then re-enter the transactions you've had problems with, then the new transactions would be OK.

We are talking about correcting 4 months of mess ups. Too many to even try to correct. Besides numbers were changing everytime I opened up the computer.
I need help now on setting up payroll.
When I write checks to Missouri Conference UMC should it be set up to go to MO Con UMC or individual liabilities. Like health insurance, pension, etc.

In Payroll, you would setup either an "other deduction" if the employee pays this amount, or "employer liability" if the church pays this amount.
I will show using UMC as an AP Vendor below. This vendor needs to be setup like this:
Accounts Payable / Setup / Maintain Vendor Records
Missouri Conference UMC
DB 01-2021-000 UMC health liability
CR 01-1110-000 checking
Then, in the Payroll module it looks like this:
Payroll / Setup / Maintain Item Descriptions
ADD
31
UMC Health Insurance
CR 01-2021-000 UMC health liability
DB 01-1110-000 checking
[AP Vendor]Missouri Conference UMC
